Swampy’s #Florida says Happy Sally Ride Day!
Today celebrates the birthday of the first female American astronaut, Sally Ride. Her first flight was within the space shuttle, Challenger, in June 1983 from the Kennedy Space Center. She only flew one other time in 1984. She then retired from NASA in 1987.
Ride died in 2012.
