Sanford’s growth as an agricultural center in the early 20th century brought more trains and expanded highways for trucks. Sanford was the largest shipping point for oranges in the state. The image above shows the active rail lines along the Sanford waterfront.Six lines of railroads diverge from Sanford to all parts of the state. The train station was an active location along the waterfront. ”
