Above is a banner from around 1955 of Parrot Jungle.

There’s a lot of history to Parrot Jungle. Not the least of which is that it is no longer Parrot Jungle. After opening in 1936, the attraction that featured so much parrot and cockatiel-wise, had a thriving business in Pinecrest just outside Coral Gables in Dade County. People visited from all over to see birds ride bicycles and enjoys the beautiful path that wound through gardens of flowers and other tropical wonders. In 2003 the park reopened as Parrot Jungle Island on Watson Island, which sits along the McArthur Causeway. Finally, the parrot part was pealed away and the name of the attraction is Jungle Island.

The former Parrot Jungle in Pinecrest is still open as a public park with much of the wonderful flora and fauna intact.

Swampy has a lot of Parrot Jungle items that will appear down the road with more history of the attraction.
