Swampy’s #Florida Sunday Services: First Baptist Church, St. Petersburg, as it once was.

Since this postcard, the First Baptist Church in St. Petersburg has moved. The nearby Episcopal church bought the property in 1990. In 1994 the building the designated as a local historic landmark.
Eventually the bulk of the building was demolished except the front facade of the structure. Around 2014 a parking garage was connected to the facade and, as can be seen in the photograph, the Greek Revival facade lives on.
This postcard is part of the Swampy’s Florida collection.

Thanks for the info. This was my childhood church before my family relocated in the later 1970’s and we just visited the church and were astonished to see that only the facade remained. Sad that it’s no longer the church we knew, but pleased that the church is still represented.
