Swampy’s #Florida says Happy Dogs in Politics Day!
Swampy and the gang make their way to the beaches of Cocoa Beach to find a dog running for president. We’ll have to see down the road how Vero does in his attempt to run the country. A crowd has gathered including photographer Steve Orth, who is taking his lunchtime from his job a couple blocks away at the famous Ron Jon Surf Shop.
The day recognizes the famous ‘Checkers’ speech made by vice presidential candidate Richard Nixon in 1952. In the speech he spoke about his new dog, ‘Checkers’. It was 2 decades later that Nixon would utter the words, “I am not a crook.” during a speech at Disney World.
