2016-0602-LakeEola-Orlando

Here’s Lake Eola, a gift to Orlando by, one of my heroes, Jacob Summerlin, King of the Crackers. I recall once years ago trying to place a year and location for this postcard, but can’t recall now what I figured. I don’t have the original card handy. Though it is noted the postcard is unmarked. Due to lack of structures that would otherwise be present, i would guess this card from early 1900s. This appears to be from Central Avenue looking northerly based upon the elevation. The structures seen throw me. I’d write it might be Robinson Street looking southerly but the structures don’t seem, to me, to fit.

Please feel free to chime in to correct this person who is proving to get too far a distance away from my one-time expertise of Orlando history.

Neat to note many of these trees can still be found around Lake Eola.

I wish my friend Lucile Fair was still around. She would likely be able to nail where and when this card was. She, unfortunately died at 106 3/4 in October of 2014.
