Postcard Wednesday – Off to the Dog Races!

Here’s a postcard postmarked Lake Worth, 1956. No specific location is mentioned on the postcard.
On the back “Mom” writes that she is going to see “Mr. Kefauver” later in the day. Since it’s postmarked April of 1956 would indicate that the presidential race of that year was going strong. She is going to see Estes Kefauver, Tennessee Senator, who ran fro President in 1956. He ended up in the race as Adlai Stevenson’s Vice-Presidential candidate. Dwight David “Ike” Eisenhower won the ’56 Presidential race.
Looks like the Greyhound track at the corner of Belvedere Rd. and N. Congress, just on the north side of Palm Beach International Airport. Does that track date to the mid-50’s?
Yep. I’ve got a track program from there dated 1955. According to their site the Club started in 1932.

I’ve read a history in the past year that mapped out this one and a few other kennel clubs starting between the late ’20s to the early ’30s.
