Swampy’s #Florida Postcard: Wood Citrus Center, St. Pete Beach

Here’s Wood Citrus Center, the classic look of a roadside stop in Florida for O.J. and gifts. There is no postmark on the back, but based on the car, I would guess the mid ’70s. Agave seafood and Mexican restaurant is in the 6400 Gulf Boulevard building now. Feel free to leave a comment below of any memories you have of this or any Florida tourist stop.
By the way, though you see “St. Petersburg Beach” on the bottom, the name of the city officially changed it’s name to St. Pete Beach about 8 years ago by referendum.
This is part of the Swampy’s Florida collection.
I remember buying orange-scented cologne and a cheap necklace. My brother said he got an alligator-shaped pencil sharpener. Wonderfully tacky.
Tacky but to be remembered forever! Love to find an alligator pencil sharpener these days! 🙂
Worked here for about 6 months in the mid 70s. Back then, no trip to Florida was complete without buying at least one sack of oranges.
Went there every vacation in the 80’s. Their fresh squeezed juices were the most delicious drink I’ve had in my entire life!
