Swampy’s Florida Historic Photos: International Paper Plant in Panama City, 1948.
Today is Lumberjack Day!
Lumber has been a major business in Florida since the Spanish came to the shores all the way up to now.
After cutting thousands of tree, the lumberjacks would get the felled trees delivered to paper plants to be cut and made into wood for homes or paper for schools.
There used to be paper plants all over north Florida and the Panhandle. The photo, above, is of one of those sites in Panama City that the International Paper Company ran.
This photo is from ‘International Paper Company 1898-1948: After Fifty Years’.
