Swampy’s Florida Postcards – South side of Green Bridge, Bradenton, 1950s.
Here’s the Green Bridge crossing north across the Manatee River sometime in the 1950s.
In the foreground is the Florida Highway Patrol Station. You a patrol car in the back of the building and how it looked at the time.
FHP is now on the north side of the Manatee River along the bridge to the west, the 8th Avenue or Business 41 bridge.
To the left is the Chamber of Commerce and yacht basin.
The Chamber building has also moved west and along the south side of the 8th Avenue bridge.
The yacht basin is long gone and now their are variojus boat docking areas along the Manatee River. Most on the north side of the bridge. The Bradenton Yacht Club is, also, on the north side and way west of Green Bridge, heading toward Snead Island.
Here’s what the area looks like today:
This postcard isn’t postmarked, but the cars are clearly 1950s.
This postcard is part of the Swampy’s Florida collection.
