‘3 Body Problem’ is an 8 part series avaible through the Netflix network. The eries is an adaption of a book with the same name.

Episode 8 ends in Florida and I clipped these stills from the series.

The last minutes of the film shifts to Florida and the real-life Magic Beach Motel in Vilano Beach, just east of St. Augustine. The now-rare Florida neon is a perfect background for an otherwise depressing preceding 8 parts of the series. Any levity was welcome. Maybe the entire series should’ve been shot at the motel.

The Florida settings were limited. The first, seen above, is by the motel pool. The next are described below.

‘The Magic Beach Motel’ claims to be the cheapest lodging in the area. Based on prices I saw, that is true. Can’t remember if that was the case back when working on travel guides.

Earlier in the series is a rocket launch that is presented as happening in Florida, but believe that was shot elsewhere with added computer graphics.

The next seen is a drone filming of a sand road through parkland to waters edge of the shore of the Atlantic. That and the images above and below indicate the setting to be at Fort Mose, though no credit is given to the sites. The scene reminds me of areas I’ve seen at the Fort Mose park.

Included in the closing shots are digitally added bugs. Millions of them. This could be why the Florida Film Bureau begged off being mentioned, even in the credits. The realtor/builder/developer crowd frowns at such appearances of Florida. I know this has been the case in the past.

The three actors in the Florida scenes are Benedict Wong, Jess Hong and Jovan Adepo.

I understand the first 8 episodes are the first series. The intent is to continue with more series in the future. Wonder if Florida will be a setting again?
I’ll have to peruse the book, the series is based upon, to see if the Florida setting is written there to.
Does anyone reading this know if Florida is any more of a setting then the rocket launch part?
