Swampy’s Florida Friday Trains: David Levy’s engine on his cross-state rails out of Fernandina.
David Levy demonstrated his amazing ability to get things done by having rail built across the Amelia River and on southwest to Cedar Key through environment no man had tackled before. His first engine, like the one above, was named the Abner McGhee after the sawmill owner Levy bought it from. The rail was completed March 1st, 1861.
