Swampy’s Postcard Thursday: Clearwater Federal Savings in Largo, 1960s.
Here’s an undated postcard of the Clearwater Federal Savings building in Largo. This is amongst the many, many, many independent banks now gobbled up by the international banking system. Just by seeing the current view of the building available using Google, you can see how fast the buying and selling of banks can occur. Here’s the image:
The new banner of Wachovia covering the former bank name is certainly gone. This building is now a Wells Fargo bank. I hope Wells Fargo keeps the branch, even though the building is on a side road. Our state has lost a lot of these architecturally neat 1960s buildings.
You can see the street view of where this building is located in the right bottom corner, by clicking the corner of the box.
This building unfortunately wasn’t kept open by Wells Fargo. It’s been on the market for half a year as of 9/2/21
