Swampy's Florida

The Alamanda Motel in Sarasota has one of the last neon signs along that part of US 41. At one time motels lined US 41, most all with neon letters, musical signs, flamingos, etc. This is the last motel with a shuffleboard court in the area. Though the neon signs are gone there are still a dozen or so locally owned motels along the Tamiami Trail (US 41) north of Sarasota. They and the Alamanda Motel sit rather quietly these days as the thundering traffic speeds by and folks turn into chain after chain of lodging.
