Swampy’s Florida Collectible’s: View-Master’s ‘Flipper’.
Still some of the best 3-D ever created, View-Master had a huge variety of images to pop into it’s viewer to see 2-D images in a new light. For some who didn’t travel it was the only way to experience far off locales.
View-Master well covered the state of Florida. Over time more sets of reels will be shared here. Here’s a pack of 3 reels of the TV series ‘Flipper’. The TV program, that ran from 1964 to 1967, quickly followed the very popular film from 1963 that all took place on and around the fictional Coral Key Park, Florida, and was about a boy and his pet dolphin and the adventures they get into aided by his father, brother and friends. A number of other film and television versions of ‘Flipper’ appeared since the original story was filmed.
Though the series took place in a fictional location, it was actually filmed in Florida by, the then, Ivan Tors Studios, in Miami. Location shooting was done from Virginia Key not far away.
The Viewmaster and ‘Flipper’ set are part of the Swampy’s Florida collection.
