Swampy’s Florida Sunday Services: First Presbyterian Church of Pompano Beach, 1960s.
Here’s the First Presbyterian Church of Pompano Beach, built in 1959. The church looks much the same today with a very significant difference – It is very Pink. In fact, for the past couple decades, the structure has been known as The Pink Church to congregants and all others who refer to it.
I’ve walked around and gotten photos all over this great structure. Only been inside once. This is a terrific building that stands prominently along U.S. 1 on the jurisdictional edge of Pompano Beach and Lighthouse Point.
The First Presbyterian Church of Pompano Beach has an interesting steeple that has the metal filigree of a grape vine winding it’s way to the top. The church and connected structures sits on an entire block along US 1 and NE 24 Street.
Here’s a photo I took in 2014:

Sadly, this is still another church that has dropped it’s history from the website.
This postcard is part of the Swampy’s Florida collection.
