The Tourist Church, Daytona Beach. – Swampy’s Sunday Services.
Here’s, what was once known as, the Tourist Church in Daytona Beach. It was built in 1929 and still exists today. Now the structure is home to the Seabreeze United Church of Christ. Back at the time the building was built this area was known as the community of Seabreeze.
This postcard was mailed in 1949 by Vivian Suffolk to Lillian Clark of Clark’s Beauty Salon in Lakewood, Ohio. The message on the card says that Vivian’s sister works at the church. The message also says Vivian is “enjoying much socializing, sun, citrus and fresh fish.” She apparently helped to catch some trout. This message is well illustrated in the book featured later today on this site, ‘The Sea and the Stars’ by Robert Wilder. The book tells the story of the building of this part of Volusia County from 1900 to 1960.
