Orange County Courthouse, Orlando, early 1900s. – Swampy’s Florida Postcard.
Here’s the grandest of the various Orange County Courthouses that have stood in Orlando as the county seat of Orange County. This one was built in 1892. A new one went up in 1927 when the “Boom” was on and folks thought, incorrectly, that the tax money would never ends and lots of government buildings went up throughout Florida.
The 1927 building still stands as the Orange County History Museum. The 1892 structure was, unfortunately, demolished in 1957, the same year as a new City Hall for Orlando was opened. That’s right, another time of lots of people moving in, lots of tax money and new government buildings.
The postcard was not mailed and was printed in Great Britain.
