Swampy’s #Florida Train Stops: The Clearwater depot in the 1880s.
The Clearwater depot of the 1880s seems to stand empty as an Orange Belt train leaves the station.
This photo is from ‘The Plant System Of Railroads, Steamships And Hotels: The South’s First Great Industrial Enterprise’ by Gregg M. Turner and Seth Bramson.

Rather than Clearwater, that is a picture of the original Orange Belt Railway Sutherland depot. Turner and Bramson were mistaken in the identity. Sutherland was the original name of Palm Harbor before the name was changed in 1925. This depot was located at Florida Avenue and Dixie Highway (now Palm Harbor Boulevard). It’s all in my book, “Trains of Pinellas County.”
