Swampy’s Florida Postcard: Municipal Airport, Jacksonville, 1941.
Here’s the the early Jacksonville airport terminal building with an Eastern Airlines plane waiting for travelers in 1941. The new terminal building had just opened. Within a year this would all change as World War II engulfed flight in the Untied States.
The back of the postcard states:
“The recently completed Administration Building of the Jacksonville Municipal contains the various offices of the C.A.A. [Civil Aeronautics Authority] and the U.S. Weather Bureau, in addition to the offices of the Eastern and the National Airlines. This airport carries a 4A rating.”
This postcard is not postmarked.
