Here’s Swampy at one of the earliest Dairy Queens still standing. This one is just south of State Road 46 and east of US 17 in Sanford.
Here’s Swampy with a huge wall size photographic display of Orlando in the private Citrus Club in Orlando. Swampy was there for the monthly Orlando Remembered meeting. Orlando Remembered puts up fantastic displays of Orlando’s history and is part of the Orange County Regional History Center. Swampy’s Rob Smith has been a member of Orlando Remembered since 1986.
Swampy’s Matchbook Wednesday: Hilton Plaza with the Jackie Gleason touch, Miami Beach
Not sure how this was arranged, but Jackie Gleason had to give a mighty big blessing for this to happen. Below is the inside of the matchbook that uses all the Gleason catch phrases to sell the Hilton property.
Not far from here was the Jackie Gleason theater which also has a matchbook and will be featured here next Wednesday.
