Found a hidden gem in Lake Alfred – ‘Nini’s Lake Alfred Cafe’. It’s in the same building as Biggar’s Antiques and it is the owners of the antique store who decorated the cafe. Lots of memorabilia inside and out in the back where patrons can be served in their small courtyard. The cafe serves breakfast and lunch. The food is great in a great atmosphere.

There cartoon signs are from an unknown location and were part of Biggar’s Antiques. Cartoon characters from Dagwood to Skippy are along the walls.
I’m working on the next Swampy’s Florida book about Marion County. Here is artwork I just finished for it.
This is the first of many buildings Edwardo Gato built in Key West in the late 1800s. His main business was producing cigars, though he was involved in other business ventures as well on the island. Gato even built a community of homes for his workers known as Gatoville. Not bad for someone named after cats.
