Swampy’s friends, Rob Labby and Manfred Wegscheider, contributed a giant alligator puppet to add to the Swampy road show. Rob is a performer who is cutting back a bit and needed a home for his alligator.. and two working, prop space helmets. Swampy took ’em all! Watch for Deerfield, the alligator, and the space helmets at Swampy stops down the road!
Swampy nabs a burger at Okeecobee’s favorite night spot, Cowboys. Cowboys opened five years ago replacing one of the R.J. Gators spots along St Rd 441. The location proved too popular and in January Cowboy’s moved on to Parrott Avenue with ample parking and much more dining room.
This is not Swampy’s first stop at Cowboys. Last time got a slab of excellent ribs. This time didn’t need as much and got a Cowboy burger. It came cooked as ordered and very good. It was juicy as a good burger should be. The tomato, lettuce and onion came in the bun and very fresh. The serving of steak fries was mighty small, but it all still adds up to a good value.
Swampy picks up a famous pecan log roll at Stuckey’s, right off the Florida Turnpike, in Yeehaw Junction.
Swampy is heading further south. Let’s see where he heads off to next.
Swampy attended the annual Orange County Regional History Maker Celebration in Orlando tonight. Receiving the honor this year were to Curtis Stanton, who established so much of what the Orlando Utilities Commission is today, and Rita Boornstein, who ran Rollins College in Winter Park from 1990 to 2004. Saw lots of old friends and made some new ones. A great celebration of history!
Above is Swampy with History Center volunteers. Have more photos, but in another camera. Will add those later.
