A quick internet search finds no sign of the ‘New Fort Pierce Hotel’ and with no address on the matchbook, don’t know where this is or was. We do know to stay there was “Delightful but Inexpensive”. Below is the full matchbook.
Swampy’s Tuesday Ads: Circus World, Polk County, 1982.
This is an ad for the attraction that once existed at the corner of Interstate 4 and US 27 in Polk County, Circus World. Circus World was declining at this point in attendance and in another few years would close. Circus World just couldn’t get enough people over from the major competition in Orange County.

Here’s an icon to find a historic museum. This Studebaker sign, that once graced an Ocala car dealership, now welcomes visitors to the Marion County Historical Museum in Ocala in the McPherson Government Complex.
Presidential Deal by Les Standiford
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
My favorite and most fun book read this year so far. It just jettisons from page 1 in an exciting and enthralling 400+ pages. Good guys John Deal and Vernon Driscoll are up against a seemingly impossible task that is just too much fun to follow along with. There are a few holes in the plot. However, recently it seems to me too many authors are going overboard trying to cover every second covered in a story and author Les Standiford leaves gaps of time to the imagination and makes it work. To me that is the sign of a skilled author. It is so much fun and well written that, especially compared to recent written novels I’ve read recently, I have to give this book 5 stars.
Swampy’s Friend’s Photos: Today on the Wakulla River
Swampy’s friend Susan Green is at the Wakulla Springs Lodge and took this photo of the tour boat taking off into the river for one of it’s fantastic trips earlier today. She and her husband were fortunate to take the boat trip, too. This should be on your ‘Must-do-in-Florida’ trips. Click here to learn more and plan your trip to Wakulla Springs State Park and a stay at the Wakulla Lodge.
