Postcard Wednesday – The Cypress Gardens Florida Pool

Here’s a postcard of the Florida pool built by Dick Pope at his Cypress Gardens to entice films to be produced at the Winter Have site. He specifically was looking to lasso swimming champ and film star, Esther Williams, to put a cinematic spotlight on Cypress Gardens. It worked. Williams made a number of films and a TV special at the attraction.

Swampy was present for former Orlando Mayor Carl Langford receiving an honor at the Lighthouse of Central Florida annual event at the Ritz-Carlton hotel south of Orlando this past Saturday, September 25th, 2010.
U.S. Marshall, and former City of Orlando Police Chief, Tom Hulbert and his wife greeet Swampy at the event.
