It’s 1947 at the Dixie Theater and the box office looks quiet. Beside the theater with folks looking out is the Louis’ Cafe. This photo is from Florida Memory.

Swampy’s Sunday Services: St. Anne’s Shrine, Lake Wales.

St. Ann’s Shrine was built by French-speaking Catholics in 1923 east of Lake Wales along the shore of Lake St. Anne. The Diocese of St. Augustine de-sanctified the shrine. Remnants of the shrine still exist in the area.
