It is sad to learn of actor Martin Milner’s death. He is best known for starring in two television programs, ‘Adam 12’ and ‘Route 66’.

Milner made a number of trips into Florida for film projects. One of the most known are his trips into Florida during his time with the T.V. series ‘Route 66’. I thought I’d focus on one of the most popular episode in the series where Milner, as Tod Stiles and his pal, Linc Case, played by Glenn Corbett, work at Weeki Wachee Springs. This episode, named ‘The Cruelest Sea of All‘ was first broadcast April 23rd, 1963. The episode toured around the Weeki Wachee park and nearby Crystal River.

One of the great things about ‘Route 66’ is that most all of the scenes were shot in a real locations, known as a practical shots. Most of all the scenes shot for Route 66 used no fake sets. That’s certainly true with this episode. Check the link of ‘Ohio66’ below that compares shots to then and now. Or watch the episode and notice how the entire episode is right there at Weeki Wachee Springs park and downtown Crystal River. An incredibly valuable archive of our state’s history for the future!
