Reddy Killowatt was a staple of advertising from the ’30s through the ’80s. Reddy came along to promote the use of electricity by locally operated electrical companies. Creator, Ashton B. Collins, Sr. was against US government in the 1930s moves to take over US electrical usage. Overtime consolidation by companies, government involvement and companies shedding cartoon characters saw Reddy being shown the door.
