News: Fire at Monroe Station
This is a tragedy! So sorry to learn of the destruction of Monroe Station along the Tamiami Trail in Ochopee. It’s hard to really appreciate this loss without knowing it’s history.

Building the Tamiami through the Evergaldes was an unbelievable task. To get a feeling what it was like to dredge and blaze a trail through the Everglades I strongly suggest reading Lawrence Wills’ book ‘A Dredgeman of Cape Sable’.
