2016-0618-WinterPArkMall

Here’s an early unmarked postcard of Winter Park Mall. The fountain sat as you see it here until a marble ring was built around it around 1980 or so. On a hot day it was very refreshing to take a stroll in the mall and feel the cool mist of the constant rain of the fountain onto a base of pebbles. I can still hear the sound of the waterfall and feel the cool mist today. 🙂

This postcard shows the center of the one story mall set in a cross of hallways with an atrium of natural light.

Winter Park Mall was demolished in 1998 to make way for, what is currently called, Winter Park Village. Why the indoor, cooler, dryer, safer mall, and ones like it, have been or are closing is a mystery to many.
