The two most influential to Florida of the Jewish faith were father and son, Moses Levy and David Levy Yulee. Moses established the city of Micanopy and established a refuge in the 1830s for persecuted European Jews by buying 100,000 acres in North Florida for them to live. David Yulee is still considered the Father of the Florida railroad and laid tracks that eventually brought railroad magnates Henry Plant and Henry Flagler.

It is sincerely doubtful anyone of the Jewish faith will have the impact the Levy family had upon Florida.
