To further celebrate Thank a Mailman Day, here’s a Florida book to read! Theodore Pratt wrote many books with Florida as a setting. With out a doubt the best of these was ‘The Barefoot Mailman’. The book chronicles a fictional telling of the true story of the mailmen who hiked the sandy surf and scrub of the coast between Palm Beach and Miami in the late 1800s. It was an area of Florida that was seeing settlement prior to the railroads of Flagler, that would provide a whole new way of delivering mail.

The first image are various images of the book along with a photo of Pratt and his pup. Below the images shows the many ways the book has been recognized in the Palm Beach Historical Museum, a statue, a film and an historic marker.
