For a good part of the 20th century along the tourist trails throughout Florida were shops that sold all variations of driftwood found along the Florida shore line. All shapes and sizes of Florida driftwood was picked up as souvenirs and hauled outside the state. For Florida gift shops, driftwood was a very cheap and profitable item to have available, so all had some. As the later 20th century had tourists tastes turn from the natural souvenir to the manufactured souvenir to getting almost no souvenirs, driftwood drifted far away from popularity.

This ad is for a souvnir shop that was exclusively of driftwood in Fort Lauderdale. The add is from The Gulfstream Red Book, 1960.
