“Remembering the crew of Apollo 1.
January 27, 1967. 52 years ago today, astronauts Virgil I. “Gus” Grissom, Edward H. White II, and Roger B. Chaffee perished in a fire during a pre-launch test for what was to be the first crewed Apollo mission along Cape Canaveral.
Although remember when this happened, it became a little more personal some years later when one of the Apollo 1 team doctors became one of our neighbors and our family doctor. The Hamilton’s lived on what is now known as Triple Cross Ranch.
