This train is hauling lumber through Holmes County, just after these tracks were open in 1882.

Just about all trains built throughout Florida were built for commerce and not for passengers. Just about all pulled lumber more than any other product. Lumber was the major business in northern-most Florida and the panhandle from the 1800s through the mid 20th century. It’s still a major industry today. Though, building and construction, that uses the lumber, is the largest business.
