Swampy’s Florida Historic Photos: Anderson Drug Co., where the wife had interesting sleeping arrangements.
In 1912 the Anderson Drug Company was founded in Downtown Winter Haven. The founders were partners, W.H. Anderson and Hal Estes. Each invested $250 into the business, but it was Anderson’s to run. Anderson had another $250 that he also invested. in a wedding ring.
A year later Anderson used that ring and married Ruby Parker, of Plant City. Ruby found Anderson had a very successful business.
So much so she found he had to work until later into the night. That had her making use of the sugar sacks in the back of the store for sleeping, including the night of their marriage.
