During World War II, military bases across the country were extremely active and brought in hundreds of workers. In Clay County, Camp Blanding did the same. Here’s a photo of a few of those workers, who came from all over, in their barracks sometime between 1940-41.

Note how similar the barracks shown are to those seen in prisoner camps. Well represented in films, like ‘stalag 17’ and, the T.V. series, ‘Hogan’s Heroes’.
