Snyder’s Shioes used to be in the heart of Downtown Lakeland. This was in the 1950s through ’70s when shopping was done in downtowns and families were intact to shop, have a meal and visit with each other all with a fine stroll among neighbors and friends. We’ve decided to not do that anymore and today Downtown Lakeland is full of loud sports bars and a lot of folks who don’t know each other.

There are still a few nice places to visit in Downtown Lakeland. The number has dropped to a point that updating my 11 year old ‘Swampy’s Florida: Lakeland’ has become very difficult with so few places to recommend.
