Roy Crane, the cartoonist for to once-wildly popular comic strips, Captain Easy and Buz Sawyer, moved to Florida sometime before 1960. My old friend, Jim Ivey had many a tale of Crane and his living not all that far from Ivey in Orange County.

As with so many cartoonists that move to Florida the state became a strip location. That was true with Crane, also. Above is a Captain Easy strip from the February 20th, 1964, edition of the Ocala Star-Banner. This one featuring the main characters visiting Fort Marion, or the Castillo de San Marcos, in Saint Augustine.
