This is what the Baptist Church looked like in Orlando back in 1910. The church was located on the corner of Pine Street and Main Street (Now Magnolia Avenue). The little structure just to the left of the church and somewhat hidden by trees was the parsonage. Note that there is no parking lot. This was back when folks walked to church.  Also there are no electrical poles. When researching this area many years ago, I recall it was around this time of 1910 that electrical lines and wooden sidewalks and street lights were added.

The back of the postcard is postmarked 10am, February 28th, 1910. It was mailed by Josie Francis to Harold Cady of Bellows Falls, Vermont. Josie writes that the church is not as “elaborately built” as the church she attended in Vermont. Though the congregation is larger and more active to the community, “I must confess”.

She also thanks Harold for a Valentine he sent to her. Hmmmm. Was there romance of the two? 🙂

This postcard is part of the Swampy’s Florida collection.
