Here’s another of the 1880s postcards recently aded to the Swampy collection. It features Fort Mantanzas and a steamboat of the Ocklawaha River. Fort Matanzas has it’s name due to Spanish conquistador Menendez massacre of nearly an entire population of French at the site in the 1500s. The Spanish named the area Mantanzas that means massacre in Spanish.

This postcard is part of the Swampy’s Florida collection.
