Swampy Live: Best Christmas decorations at the Volusia Mall, Daytona Beach.
This was a tough one! Two vied for the spot. Both locally owned and operated – again!
The Swampy Christmas winner this time is the independently owned sports store, ‘Sports Corner’. The oddly yellow tree with ornaments depicting many sports teams, a string of lights and a Pittsburgh Steelers cap to cap the tree, this window display stands out from other decorations in the mall. The floor to ceiling glass front is framed in Christmas lights, too.
Coming in second place is ‘Lee Nails and Spa’ with the only religious scene found in any of the stores in all the malls visited. The manger scene is all hand assembled with lights and frantic bundling the scene. The only drawback is that the scenes are for sale. They aren’t quite decorations as much as sale items.
This continues the trend of all Swampy winners being locally owned and able to decorate their stores for Christmas.
