For a good part of Florida’s tourism the beach area from Pensacola to Panama City was labelled “The Miracle Strip”. This postcard advertises part of the strip from Escambia to Okaloosa Counties.

A bit of confusion and a reason the name drifted away was an amusement park that ran from 1963 until 2003: Miracle Strip Amusement Park. That tourist area was in Panama City and gained into great popularity confusing just where the Miracle Strip was.

I recommend learning more about the park from our friend Tim Hollis’ book, Florida’s Miracle Strip: From Redneck Riviera to Emerald Coast.
His book covers the history with many photographs. You can purchase a copy by clicking here: https://amzn.to/2N4oW8v

This postcard is postmarked 1967 out of Pensacola to Violet Hafer in New Carrollton, Maryland. The postcard is stamped on the back that it was purchased at ‘Glass Florist Gift Shop’ in Pensacola. It’s the owner, Edna Glass, sending the card to Hafer asking her if they might exchange postcards of each other’s area for collecting purposes. Edna claims to also collect postcards of dolls, flowers, gardens, presidents and historical places.

This postcard is part of the Swampy’s Florida collection..
