The Opera House that once graced Downtown Pensacola was considered one of the greatest in Florida. It was built in 1883 by a local lumber magnate that also housed his bank in the building. Many perfomrd and spoke at the site from Lillian Russell to Booker T. Washington. The Opera House had a short life, though, being torn down in 1917 after a hurricane damaged the structure.
