Back when Downtowns were downtowns.
NONE of this exists anymore as seen here. This was once a thriving community.

Today the area is cluttered with typical municipal government ‘traffic calmers’. That is medians down the center of the road with trees and more trees (like non-native palms) lining the main drag. Seems Clearwater found a way to loot the piggy bank and pay off ‘friends’. Hard to imagine the area was once like this.

This postcard of Cleveland Avenue, Downtown Clearwater was mailed January 11th, 1963 to Mr. & Mrs. Vincent Hawker of Riverside, Haverhill, Massachusetts. Warren writes to the Hawkers of receiving a good dinner on the airplane and how there was not ice or snow when he landed “in Florida”, though he doesn’t mention which airport he flew into.

This postcard is part of the Swampy’s Florida collection.
