Inverness – Withlacoochee State Trail

Swampy visits Inverness and the Withlacoochee State Trail located in Liberty Park at the end of North Pine Avenue, north of Hwy 41. At the park is the wonderful train caboose…

Across from the caboose is the oldest standing train station in Inverness. The building now houses Two Sister’s Parkside Restaurant. Learn more about the restaurant by clicking here.

To greet you at the park is this concrete sculpture created by T.J. Neil. This is a cooter turtle that it the namesake of the annual CooterFest held at the end of October. Click here to learn more about the festival.

The Incredible Mr. Limpet Tonight!!

Tonight on Turner Classic Movies at 10pm is ‘The Incredible Mr. Limpett’ which premiered at mermaid haven, Weeki Wachee Springs , in 1964. Below is some wonderful coverage of the event back then.It’s one of Swampy’s favorite films. Though he doesn’t wish he was a fish. He’s happy being a Swamp Ape.
