About midway through the new film ‘Reagan’ is a cut to a scene with the opening above.
Clearly the image is of a version of Lake Eola Park.
However, that is an odd bit of video. It certainly not 1983’s Lake Eola. The bandshell wasn’t like that. More than that, buildings shown, weren’t around in 1983. The buildings shown do reflect an edited view of 2011. 2011 view of lake Eola is easy to nab off Google. See the image below. There are just a bunch of buildings edited out.

Seems cypress trees were edited into the image to look across the lake. These weren’t Eola’s trees due to the water’s edge. The edge does reflect 1983, but not of 2011 or today. The past 30 odd years a sea wall lines the lake and a rocky edge all around That is missing here.

I believe the film makers nabbed the Google image for the scene. Then edited the image to set an opening of the jnext scene involving Reagan’s speech at the Sheraton Twin Towers, March 8th, 1983. That speech was the one that Reagan introduced the reference to Russia being the “Evil Empire”.

These are all silly details to get into involving the opening of the scene. What is interesting is how film makes their reality.

Below is a Google image of 2011 Lake Eola. That is the latest image Google has along the Lake Eola Park sidewalk.
