Ashtrays were once a popular item for tourists to nab as a souvenir to Florida. Though smoking really hasn’t abated much, collecting souvenirs has. There are still Florida ashtrays to find, but far, far fewer. It’s pretty hard to find a metal one for sale. This one has no date but appears to be 50 years or older.

The real selling point is the alligator, the palm trees and flamingos at the top. Those have always been a top seller to tourists.

It wasn’t unusual to see in these designs a part of the Panhandle cut off or scrunched to ease reproduction. In this case scrunching occurred as the peak of Gulf County is pushed into the St. Marks area. Basically the Panhandle is scrunched to half it’s area.
