The dog track opened in 1933 in Sulphur Springs, an area that was becoming it’s own city. As time went on the City of Tampa took over and the dog track continued. It wasn’t until the greyhound racing ban that was voted in and took effect in 2020, that the track ends it’s racing the dogs. Now the area will host more gambling involving cards and viewing other races of dogs and horses.

I’d guess this postcard is from the 1940s. The Sulphur Springs Dog Track has changed quite a bit and now is a large facility that has racing dogs and card games. The nearby Seminole Casino has sliced hard into their business. Click here to learn more about the racing facility today.
